My client is a ClimateTech company and is seeking a Senior level (hard tech) with R&D and product development experience to lead the development of their patented air emissions filtration technology for pollutant capture from industrial sources such as chemical manufacturing, concentrated animal feeding operations, and direct air capture. Their novel technology, successfully demonstrated at proof-of-concept and small-scale pilot, is pre-commercialization, and are looking for an engineering professional to lead the electro-mechanical design development, prototyping, testing, and process design.
Their mission is to rid the world of climate change and they are thinking big, which is why they are seeking a technology thought leader with a radical imagination and a bias for action to play a major role in achieving our mission. As part of their candidate screening process, they will want to better understand your personal and professional circumstances as they relate to working with a start-up as this is a high risk / high reward mission-focused start-up.
They are well financed, having just closed its second seed round and has been awarded multiple Federal and State grants, and is well positioned and energized to accelerate its product R&D roadmap toward commercialization.
The VP/Director/Head of Engineering will be a thought leader directly involved with the company’s strategy development. He/She must be experienced at full product life-cycle development and scale-up for sustained production. At a minimum, the position will include the following responsibilities:
>Leading a team of engineers to achieve a successful system by continuing to design, model, and prototype the system with regards to mechanical design of system components, regeneration system design, material handling systems, air flow system, and other necessary control and operational systems.
>Serving as the principal investigator and assisting with applications for federal and state grants related to the development and testing of an air emissions filtration device for direct air capture, the post-combustion capture of carbon dioxide from flue gas, ammonia capture from CAFOs, and other industrial pollution capture.
>Leading the design and commissioning of testing setups to evaluate the prototype in both controlled lab environments and in realistic environments to determine technology performance, identify the technology development path, inform iterative system scale-up, and deliver a commercially deployable product.
>Serving as the technical lead as they engage with industry partners to implement pilot projects, provide the information necessary to prove performance, and directly support customer base acquisition for future commercial system applications.
To be successful, the candidate must have a history of hands-on experience in the design and development of electro-mechanical systems, demonstrated full product life-cycle development from concept to commercial deployment, and success managing R&D engineering teams. Knowledge of CFD and chemical principles would be a plus.
This is a fulltime/perm role. Small and growing so person must be hands-on in all aspects. Very nice compensation package.
