This pivotal role involves developing and implementing human resources policies and leading HR programs.
These programs encompass health and safety, the H2A Program, recruitment, compensation, budgeting, employee relations, and benefits administration. This position will support and promote organizational development and Company culture and values in all aspects of the HR function.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the full life cycle recruitment and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
Conducts orientation with new employees on HR topics within a timely manner, ensuring that all appropriate documentation (i.e. tax forms, I-9, job descriptions, etc.) is completed.
Plans, executes, manages, and evaluates all aspects of the H2A employee program. This includes, but is not restricted to, ensuring the submission of necessary documentation, addressing concerns, evaluating the performance of residence and greenhouse employees, and adhering to incident and accident procedures in accordance with company policy.
Coordinates payroll functions such as reviewing timecards, answering employee questions, and investigating or fixing processing errors; in collaboration with the Payroll & Benefits Administrator and staffing agencies.
Promotes and administers all aspects of employee benefits programs, ensuring compliance with regulations, coordinating annual open enrollment, updating personnel changes when required, and serving as a point of contact for employee inquiries.
Maintains personnel files and ensures employee new documentation (e.g., medical, personal, training documents) are updated and filed in a timely fashion.
Tracks and distributes performance evaluations to supervisors for completion. Directs the evaluations to the appropriate personnel for approval and finalizes the necessary documentation.
Educates supervisors/managers on all Human Resources company policies and procedures. Coaches’ managers/supervisors in navigating employee relation issues, corrective/disciplinary action questions, and other personnel issues.
Ensures compliance with state and federal health and safety laws, monitoring OSHA and company safety programs for all employees and subcontractors.
Coordinate and document monthly safety talks and local health and safety committee meetings.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience is required.
5 to 7 years of HR experience and at least 2 years of experience within a management level HR role.
Ability to maintain sensitive company and employee information with confidentiality and maintain a high level of professionalism.
Strong interpersonal, problem solving, organizational, written, and verbal, communication skills.
Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP) is considered as asset
